Ligandrol was first discovered by Ligand Pharmaceuticals and patented in 2009. The testing on the drug began and the data on the first human study was published in 2013. Later, the right to the drug was licenced to Viking Therapeutics. It completed another clinical trial in 2018. It is considered one of the SAMs that made it through the clinical trials and has come closest to seeking approval. LGD-4033 is an oral selective androgen receptor modulator. It has been shown to bind with androgen receptors with high affinity (Ki of ∼1 nM). 1. Osteoporosis
