CJC-1295 was first synthesized by a Canadian company called ConjuChem Technologies in the mid-2000s in order to develop a better alternative for short-acting injectable growth hormone. It underwent phase II clinical trials for lipodystrophy treatment. However, the research was discontinued because of the death of one participant.
